Screening of the 1996 film Matilda to mark its 30th anniversary, with PG rating and concessions for under-18s, over-65s, carers and students.
Matilda is coming to the Ulster Museum Lecture Theatre on Sunday 25 October, as part of the Cinemagic Festival. It's a 30th anniversary screening of the film, which brought Roald Dahl's classic story to the screen: the brilliant young Matilda Wormwood uses her extraordinary mind and telekinetic powers to rebel against her cruel parents and her school's tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Armed with courage and a fierce sense of justice, she stands up for her friends to reclaim her own destiny.
If you've seen it before, you know the drill: the tiny girl with the huge brain taking on the adults who think they can push her around. It's a story that works just as well for the kids as it does for the grown-ups, and seeing it on the big screen again is a good excuse to revisit it. The film runs for 98 minutes, so it's a fairly straightforward afternoon session.

Practical side of things: the screening starts at 12:30pm, and it's rated PG. You'll need a ticket for everyone coming along, though children under two don't need their own seat. There are concessions for under-18s, over-65s, carers and students, so it's worth checking for those before you book. It's all happening in the Lecture Theatre at the Ulster Museum, right in the heart of Belfast.
