An evening of improvisation comedy staged inside a house, with Sorcha Jordan and Niall McKenna as tour guides and a cast of spectral characters.
Magpie Comedy bring Fright Night to The Black Box on Monday 19 October, a night of paranormal performances staged from inside a house. The whole thing runs on a single running joke: that it's "a totally normal evening of improv comedy inside a house – not a haunted house, that's just a rumour".
Sorcha Jordan and Niall McKenna, improvisers who've taken on the roles of unbiased property developers, act as your tour guides for the evening. They lead the audience through the building, introducing a cast of spectral characters who play out the night with spooky songs, devilish dirges and chilling comedy. It's a guided tour that doesn't stay in one room, so you'll be moving through the space rather than sitting in a single seat.
The line-up is a proper ensemble. 'The Ghosts' bring together Claire Nugent, Debbie McCormack, Dan Collins and Niall Hughes, while Ryan Maxwell and Jonathan Guy appear as 'Paranormal Investigators'. Dolly Bearton takes the stage on her own, and 'Ghouls Ghouls Ghouls' features Rebecca McKeown, Gemma Burnett and Niall McKenna. Sorcha Jordan returns as part of 'The Banshees' alongside JR McCormack. Between the songs and the improv, the night runs for around two and a half hours.
