Live Irish traditional music night with Cork singer-songwriter John Spillane, supported by Fionnuala Mary Bradbury, at The Duncairn.
John Spillane plays The Duncairn on Saturday 28 November, with support from Fionnuala Mary Bradbury. The Belfast date is part of his 2026 tour across Ireland and the UK, and the night runs from 7:00 to 9:30.
Spillane is a musician, songwriter, performer, recording artist, storyteller, poet and dreamer from Cork, a county he calls 'the centre of the universe'. His vocal style has an almost sean-nรณs quality, and his performances blend melancholy poetry with irreverent humour, rooted in Irish traditional music in its contemporary form. He's a two-time Meteor Award winner for Best Folk/Trad act and one of Ireland's most accomplished songwriters, with a back catalogue that goes back to his 1997 album The Wells of the World. His songs have been covered by Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon and Sean Keane.
In April 2021 he released 100 Snow White Horses, his first independent album in 20 years. In 2024, the concept album Fioruisce - The Legend of the Lough was named 'Album of The Year' at the RTE Folk Awards. The Belfast show falls within his 2026 tour across Ireland and the UK, so you'll likely hear a mix of the newer material and the older songs that have built his reputation over the years.
