Screening of 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' at the Ulster Museum for £2.00 per ticket, part of the 37th Cinemagic Film and Television Festival.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is screening at the Ulster Museum on Sunday 18 October, as part of the 37th Cinemagic Film and Television Festival. It's a Taika Waititi comedy from New Zealand, and it's one of the many screenings the festival is running across the city this year.
The story follows Ricky Baker, a defiant city orphan who gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside, only for tragedy to threaten his new home. Refusing to return to foster care, he flees into the rugged bush with his grumpy foster uncle, sparking a nationwide manhunt as the two learn to survive on their own terms. It's a road movie that spends most of its time off the road, and it's got a 12A rating for moderate bad language, violence, bloody images, innuendo and drug references.
Cinemagic is a festival aimed at inspiring and motivating young people through diverse and creative film opportunities, and this screening is just one part of a wider programme. It's held in association with Belfast City Airport and funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and Belfast City Council. The festival runs across several Belfast venues, including the Ulster Museum, ODEON Cinemas, Queen's Film Theatre, Accidental Theatre and The Crescent Arts Centre, so there's plenty more to catch beyond this one if you're in the mood for a proper run of films.
