The Delines, led by Willy Vlautin, play The Set Up and a new album in Belfast on their 2027 tour, presented by the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.
The Delines play The Duncairn on Saturday 20 March, as part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. They're touring The Set Up and a new album, so the set will pull from both.
There's a bit of a story to how the band started. Willy Vlautin, the singer-songwriter behind Richmond Fontaine, heard Amy Boone of The Damnations sing a single ballad and was so moved by her voice that he spent over a year writing songs for her in secret before she agreed to start a band. Vlautin is as much a novelist as a musician: he's written seven books, three of which became feature films — The Motel Life, Lean on Pete and The Night Always Comes. The band's songs draw on his own life and his writing, and they've shared stages with the likes of The Drive By Truckers and The Minus 5.
On the night, the line-up is Willy Vlautin on guitar, Sean Oldham on drums, Freddie Trujillo on bass, and Cory Gray on keyboards and horns. The Belfast date is part of their 2027 tour, presented by the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.
