The West End musical Annie, with Claire Sweeney as Miss Hannigan, comes to the Grand Opera House in Belfast.
Annie returns to the Grand Opera House from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October, with the West End production playing in Belfast for five days. Claire Sweeney takes the role of Miss Hannigan, the orphanage matron who spends much of the show trying to keep the young protagonist under her thumb.
Set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression, the story follows brave young Annie, who lives at Miss Hannigan's orphanage until she's chosen to spend Christmas with the billionaire Oliver Warbucks. While she's with him, Hannigan hatches a plan to spoil Annie's search for her true family. It's a Tony award-winning book and score, and you'll recognise songs like 'It's The Hard-Knock Life', 'Easy Street' and 'Tomorrow'.
The show runs two hours and thirty minutes including the interval, and it's recommended for ages five and over, so it works as a family outing. If you're interested in the venue itself, the Grand Opera House also runs a guided tour of the building and its theatrical history, which you can fit in around the performances.
