Live country music night featuring Missy Beth & The Morning Afters, Blake Whitmire Band, and The Mellows at The White Horse.
The Mellows, Blake Whitmire Band, and Missy Beth & the Morning Afters are taking over The White Horse on Tuesday, September 29, for a full night of live music that stretches from the early evening well past midnight. It's a three-act bill, and the timing is set up so you can catch one, two, or all three without feeling like you have to rush.
Missy Beth & the Morning Afters open the night, playing from 8:00 PM to 9:45 PM. The Blake Whitmire Band takes over from there, 10:00 PM to 11:45 PM, and The Mellows close it out, starting at 11:55 PM and playing until 1:55 AM. With the music running from 8:00 PM until nearly 2:00 AM, it's a long haulโthe kind of night where you can settle in for the whole thing or just drop in for your favorite set.
The White Horse is on Comal Street in Austin's Lower East. It opened in December 2011 as the honky-tonk of Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell, who spent their days managing the Hole in the Wall and helped launch modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. Sundays there belong to the local institution Conjunto Los Pinkys. The venue is known for its low-set stage and a multi-generational dancing crowd that the owners call Austin's age-old ethos. The night is 21+.
