Thundercat performs at the Holiday Hootenanny, an annual Austin music festival and holiday market featuring live music, festive cocktails and holiday-themed rides.
Thundercat is playing Radio/East on Friday, December 11, as part of Holiday Hootenanny, the annual Austin celebration now in its third year. The multi-Grammy winning bassist, singer, and songwriter headlines a two-night run that brings together over twenty national and local acts across December 11 and 12, with no overlapping sets. The festival is put on by local promoters Resound, Illfest, KUTX, and Pooneh Ghana, and it's built around gathering Austin's independent music scene in one place before the calendar resets.
Thundercat shares the bill with Magdalena Bay, 54 Ultra, Frost Children, The Two Lips, Coco & Clair Clair, Drugdealer, Sports., Hannah Cohen, Avalon Emerson & the Charm, Gelli Haha, James K, Twen, Mini Trees, Quiet Light, Chinese American Bear, and Rockie Rode. The 2026 edition is billed as big on nostalgia, with soul and rock dominating Friday and post-Y2K vibes taking over Saturday.
Beyond the music, the festival pairs the live sets with a holiday market, festive cocktails, a gingerbread house contest, and holiday-themed rides like a mechanical reindeer. It's a full-day affair rather than a single show, so you can hang out between sets and wander the market.
