Outdoor screening of the family movie Hoppers with museum admission; bring blankets or camp chairs.
The Texas Science & Natural History Museum is hosting an outdoor screening of Hoppers on Saturday, Oct. 10. It's part of their Movies Behind the Museum series, so the movie is just one part of the evening. The museum is on the UT Austin campus at 2400 Trinity, and admission to the screening includes access to the museum itself, meaning you can spend the first part of your night wandering the galleries before the movie starts.
If you haven've been in a while, the museum is the region's only natural history museum, housed in a historic Art Deco landmark. The Paleontology Gallery holds some of Texas's most impressive fossils, including the 30-foot Onion Creek Mosasaur, and the Texas Wildlife Gallery fills its rooms with detailed dioramas of the state's diverse wildlife and ecoregions. There's also the Discovery Center, a hands-on paleontology space built for families and young learners. The museum runs regular programming throughout the year, like Free Fourth Sundays and Dinosaur Day.
For the screening, the museum doors open at 6 PM, and the movie starts at 7:30 PM. Since it's an outdoor showing, you'll want to bring blankets or camp chairs to sit on. You're welcome to bring your own snacks, too, as long as there are no glass containers. Closed captioning is provided for the film.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, and UT staff, students, and faculty get in for $6 with a valid ID. With the museum open for the evening, you can make a night of it: walk through the galleries and see the Mosasaur, then settle in outside for Hoppers.
