Double bill screening of The First Omen and the 50th anniversary screening of The Omen (1976) at the Bullock IMAX.
The Bullock IMAX is running a double bill of The First Omen and The Omen on Friday, October 23, and Sunday, October 25. Both nights follow the same order: The First Omen plays first, followed by the original 1976 film. The first feature starts at 7 PM and 9:15 PM, with the second one coming right after.
The First Omen is the newer addition, directed by Arkasha Stevenson. It serves as a prequel to the 1976 original, so you'll see the story build up to the one that started it all. After that, you'll get The Omen, directed by Richard Donner, which follows a diplomat who discovers his adopted son might be the Antichrist. Gregory Peck takes the title role, and the film is famous for its unsettling atmosphere and the way it lets the tension simmer.
One of the things that really sticks with you about The Omen is the score. Jerry Goldsmith wrote it, and he won the only Oscar of his career for the work. It's a huge part of the movie's identity, and hearing it in a theater is a different experience than watching at home. This double bill also marks the film's fiftieth anniversary, so it's a good time to see it alongside the prequel that leads into it.
