Free admission to the Texas Science & Natural History Museum on the fourth Sunday of the month, featuring new exhibits and hands-on activities for families.
The Texas Science & Natural History Museum is offering free admission on Sunday, October 25, as part of its H-E-B Free Fourth Sundays program. It's a recurring thing—the museum opens its doors for free on the fourth Sunday of every month, so if you miss this one, there's another coming soon.
For those who haven't spent much time there, the museum is on the UT Austin campus and was formerly known as the Texas Memorial Museum. It tells the story of life in the natural world in Texas, starting from the formation of the planet, moving through the age of the dinosaurs, and leading up to the environment we live in today. You'll find fossils and examples of Texas wildlife, and you can actually touch real meteorites. One of the biggest sights is walking beneath the 33-foot wingspan of a pterosaur and a tyrannosaur.
On Free Fourth Sundays, the museum opens its collections to everyone for the day. Along with the permanent fossil specimens, there are new exhibits and hands-on activities, which makes it a good spot to bring the family. If you're into natural history, it's a chance to see the whole range of Texas's prehistoric and modern wildlife without paying for a ticket.
