Live country music night featuring Missy Beth & The Morning Afters, Blake Whitmire, and The Mellows at The White Horse.
Missy Beth & The Morning Afters headline The White Horse on Tuesday, September 1, with the Blake Whitmire Band and The Mellows filling out the bill. It's a three-act night that pulls from a few different corners of the country: Missy Beth & The Morning Afters are Austin's own, Blake Whitmire comes in from Lubbock, and The Mellows travel down from Southern California.
The White Horse has been a fixture on the Lower East since it opened on Comal Street in December 2011. Co-owners Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell brought their honky-tonk style to the neighborhood, drawing on their time managing the Hole in the Wall. Over the years, the venue has helped break modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau, and Sundays have long belonged to Eastside institution Conjunto Los Pinkys. The low-set stage and the multi-generational dancing crowd that often packs the floor reflect a long-standing Austin ethos.

With three bands on the bill, the night covers a fair amount of ground. Missy Beth & The Morning Afters keep it local, while Blake Whitmire brings the Lubbock sound and The Mellows come from Southern California, so the lineup reaches well beyond the city limits. The music runs from 7:30 PM through 1:00 AM, and there's a $5 cover at the door.
