Magic Meetup - Casual Commander

The Highball is hosting another casual Commander night on Monday, July 27, from 7 PM to 10 PM. It's part of their monthly Magic: The Gathering collection, and the whole point is to get people together for a few rounds of Commander without it being a high-stakes tournament. They welcome players of all skill levels, from those showing off their best-built decks to first-timers who have never played a game in their life.

If you're new to the format, you don't need to bring your own deck to get started. The venue has house cards you can borrow, and there's a seasoned player on hand to welcome newcomers and help you find your footing. It's a low-pressure way to jump in if you've been curious about Commander but didn't want to dive in alone.

There are a couple of things to have ready before you show up. You'll need a Wizards of the Coast account via the Magic: The Gathering Companion app to play, and if you register through the app, you're eligible for an Arcane Signet promotional card while supplies last. The night runs under the venue's TTRPG Code of Conduct, which they enforce strictly: players who don't respect it are sent to the exile zone.

On the practical side, you'll need a valid government-issued photo ID for entry, and the event is for ages 18 and over. Admission is free, and it runs from 7 PM to 10 PM at The Highball @ Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, 1120 South Lamar Boulevard.
