Hotel Vegas Cumbia Night! ft. Fuego Santo, Los Desechos, DJ Houser

Hotel Vegas is hosting a Cumbia Night on Saturday, September 19, with Fuego Santo, Los Desechos, and DJ Houser taking turns on the stage. The whole night runs from 9 PM to 2 AM at Hotel Vegas & The Volstead Lounge, 1502 E 6th St, and it's built around Fuego Santo, a cumbia act from Bogotá, Colombia. They're playing alongside Austin's own Los Desechos and DJ Houser, and the night opens with a free cumbia dance class so anyone can get on the floor before the bands take over.

The schedule is set up to keep the dance floor moving. At 9:30 PM, La Sirena leads that free cumbia dance class, and DJ Houser takes over at 10 PM. Los Desechos follow at 10:30 PM, then Houser returns at 11:30 PM. Fuego Santo headlines at midnight, and Houser closes the night starting at 1 AM. Between the two bands, the DJ fills the gaps, so the music doesn't stop.

The organizers describe the night as a community-focused one dedicated to keeping cumbia alive, with no pretense: just sweat, tacos and rhythm. The dance class at the start is meant to get people moving early, so you don't have to be a pro to join in. It's a long stretch of cumbia from the Bogotá act and the local Austin players, with the DJ keeping things going in between.

Tickets are $12 and the night is 21+. The dance class starts at 9:30 PM, Los Desechos play at 10:30 PM, and Fuego Santo takes the stage at midnight.
