ATXplained Live

ATXplained Live is coming to Bass Concert Hall on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 7:30 PM. It's the stage version of KUT News' ATXplained, the reporting project that builds its stories around questions asked by the community and tells them live on air. On stage, KUT journalists take those same stories and turn them into a theatrical show.

What makes it a show rather than a reading is everything they add to the reporting. They bring in sound, images, music, props, costumes, comedy, and dancing—and they even throw in T-shirt cannons. The goal is to keep things surprising, and the whole thing is aimed at helping you understand Austin a little better. Support for ATXplained comes from H-E-B.

If you've followed the project on the radio, you know the format: stories about the city that start with a question from someone who lives here. Seeing it live puts those stories in a different light, with the journalists telling them in person and the added production filling in the gaps. It's a good way to spend an evening catching up on the city's quirks and histories from the people who've been reporting on them.

Tickets go on pre-sale today, July 28, starting at 10 AM, so you can get yours before the general sale. The show is Thursday, October 15, at 7:30 PM at Bass Concert Hall.
