Broadway legend Audra McDonald performs her signature mix of Broadway and Great American Songbook songs with her band.
Audra McDonald returns to Austin on Sunday, January 17, 2027, at Bass Concert Hall, where she'll perform with her band. It's a mix of Broadway and the Great American Songbook, with her band backing her through the set. The evening is presented by Tejemos Foundation, Lynne Dobson and Greg Wooldridge, with additional support from Holly Ann Berent and Marvin Brittman.
If you're not familiar with the name, McDonald is one of the most decorated stage actors working today. She's won six Tony Awards—a record—along with two Grammys, an Emmy, and the National Medal of Arts. Those six Tonys came from roles in Carousel, Master Class, and Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, and she's as well known for her soprano voice and dramatic interpretations as for her storytelling and warmth on stage. The set she's bringing to Austin pulls from that same ground: Broadway, the Great American Songbook, and beyond, blending the emotional weight of the theater with classical music and jazz.
