Author Walter Stahr discusses his new book on William Howard Taft, moderated by Peter Biello, as part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series.
Walter Stahr will be at McElreath Hall on Wednesday, Nov 18, at 7 PM to talk about his new book on William Howard Taft. The evening is a conversation rather than a lecture, with Peter Biello moderating. It's part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series, which brings writers in for discussions about life and literature.
The book focuses on Taft, a president who spent much of his career as a judge and served as America's first civilian governor in the Philippines before winning the presidency in 1908. Stahr is a New York Times bestselling author with a long run of biographies behind him: Seward: Lincoln's Indispensable Man, Stanton: Lincoln's War Secretary, and John Jay: Founding Father. He's a two-time winner of the Seward Award for Excellence in Civil War Biography and practiced law in Washington and Asia.
Biello is a familiar voice around town, hosting All Things Considered and Georgia Today on GPB, and co-hosting the book podcast Narrative Edge. He'll be the one guiding the conversation through Stahr's research and the life of the 27th president.
