A cult classic musical horror film performed with a live shadow cast by the local group Lips Down on Dixie every Friday night.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is back at The Plaza Theatre on Friday, October 16, as part of its long-running Friday night tradition. It's not just a screening, though—it comes with a live shadow cast, which is the whole point of the experience. If you've never seen one, a shadow cast is a group of amateur actors in costume who pantomime the movie's scenes right in front of the screen and out in the aisles, acting along with the film as it plays.
The local group behind it is Lips Down on Dixie (LDoD), and they've been doing this at the Plaza nearly every Friday since 2000. They're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that started with the goal of staging screen-accurate productions of the movie as an alternative entertainment source for the metro Atlanta area. They've kept that going for over two decades, with costumes, makeup, and props planned to the detail and timing that regulars describe as impeccable.

It's a late one, starting at 11 PM, and it runs year-round, so this is just one of many Friday nights you can catch it. The Plaza is at 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, in the heart of Poncey. Tickets are $15, with a discount for children, seniors, and military that brings it down to $12.75. If you buy online, there's a $1.50 service fee on top.
