Weekly Friday morning coffee tasting at Counter Culture Coffee where participants sip and discuss coffees from the menu.
Counter Culture Coffee holds its weekly coffee tasting, Tasting at Ten, every Friday morning in Atlanta, with the next session on Friday, November 13. It's a free event, and the format is straightforward: you sip and discuss coffees from the Counter Culture menu, then trace the journey from seed to cup.
If you've never been, it's less of a formal class and more of a communal morning ritual. You'll taste through a few different coffees from their current lineup, and the conversation follows the whole process—from the farm where the beans are grown to the roasting and brewing that happens here in the city. It's a good way to get a sense of what makes one roast different from another without needing to be an expert first.
The tasting is run by Counter Culture Coffee, which has been around since 1995. They describe their work as a pursuit of coffee perfection, built on a commitment to environmental, social, and fiscal sustainability, and to training cutting-edge coffee people. That focus on the people behind the bean is exactly what the session is about: the farmers, the roasters, and the journey in between.
