Twenty-minute children's story time session pairing a children's book with a nature theme at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
Story Time is back at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Wednesday, October 21, from 11:30 AM to 11:50 AM. It's a twenty-minute session, recommended for kids eight and under, and it's part of the museum's regular children's programming.
Each session works the same way: they pair a children's book with a nature theme, and then the museum explores that theme with the audience. It's a short, focused window—just twenty minutes—so it fits easily into a morning out with the kids without taking over the whole day. If you've got little ones who like stories and animals, it's a low-pressure way to get them engaged with the museum's collections.
Fernbank itself is a nonprofit natural history museum, and it's more than just the galleries. It houses a giant screen theatre and an old-growth forest on the grounds, so there's plenty to do before or after the session. The museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, and it stays open late on select nights, which gives you some flexibility if you want to make a full day of it. Just a quick heads-up: Fernbank is not affiliated with the Fernbank Science Center, which runs as a division of DeKalb County Schools.
