Outdoor workshop to sketch plants in the garden, then carve and stamp a plant-based design with relief printing, led by Christy Bardis Petterson.
Christy Bardis Petterson leads a botanical printing workshop at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Saturday, November 7, from 10 AM to noon. It's part of the Garden's Fall 2026 programming, and the session is built around relief printing—the kind of hand-carved stamping that lets you make your own prints over and over.
The morning starts outdoors, where you'll spend some time sketching plants throughout the Garden to find a design that works for you. Once you've got your sketch, you'll head inside to carve it into a stamp and print it. The Garden frames the session as a creative recharge for mental health, and the hands-on part is where you actually get to make something you can take home.
Petterson is an Atlanta-based artist and writer who's been working in the city's creative scene for years. For 18 years, she organized the award-winning Indie Craft Experience craft market, and she spent a decade as a teaching artist at the High Museum of Art. She's also taught at the Museum of Design Atlanta, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and other local venues. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1999 with a bachelor's in literature and creative writing and lives in East Atlanta Village.
