Hands-on workshop on container gardening for edible plants, from annual vegetables and herbs to fruit trees, within the Plant. Eat. Repeat. series.
Plant. Eat. Repeat. is back on Saturday, November 7, with a workshop on container gardening for edible plants at the Astro-Fain Community Garden. It's part of a series run by the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Food Well Alliance that looks at how to grow, eat, and connect with plants, and this session focuses on the practical side of growing your own food when you're working with limited space.
The session covers the basics of container gardening for edible plants, ranging from annual vegetables and herbs to fruit trees. You'll get tips on how to pick the right containers and soil mix, how to figure out spacing and planting needs, and how to maintain perennial plants for the long term. It's designed for anyone growing food in small spaces, so if you're working with a balcony, a patio, or just a few pots on a windowsill, the advice here applies.
Plant. Eat. Repeat. is one of several hands-on classes and activities the Atlanta Botanical Garden runs across its site and partner locations. The Garden's broader mission is to develop and maintain plant collections for display, education, research, conservation, and enjoyment, and this workshop fits into the educational side of that work. The Astro-Fain Community Garden, where this one takes place, is one of those partner locations.
