Author talk with Ken Chenault, former Chairman and CEO of American Express, discussing his memoir 'Equal to the Task' as part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series.
Ken Chenault will be at McElreath Hall on Tuesday, December 1, for an author talk hosted by the Atlanta History Center. He's there to discuss his memoir, Equal to the Task: A Life Forged Between America's Promise and Its Truth, which takes its title from a lesson his father taught him: "You are equal to the task."
If the name doesn't ring a bell, the resume should. Chenault spent nearly two decades as Chairman and CEO of American Express, from 2001 to 2018, and now serves as Chairman and a Managing Director of General Catalyst. He's been recognized on TIME's 100 Most Influential People list in 2021 and Fortune's World's 50 Greatest Leaders in both 2014 and 2021. He also sits on the boards of Airbnb and Berkshire Hathaway, and serves on the Smithsonian Institution's Advisory Council for the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The talk is part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series, which brings writers together with readers for conversations about life and literature. The series features a range of voices—breakthrough, award-winning, and bestselling authors across history, biography, fiction, and memoir—so this fits right into that mix.
