Self-guided homeschool day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden with grade-specific Garden Guides, volunteer-led introductions and activities for all ages.
Atlanta Botanical Garden is hosting Homeschool Day on Friday, May 21, 2027, from 9 AM to 12 PM. It's a self-guided morning designed for homeschool families to bring their life science, botanical, and environmental studies curriculum into the garden, which holds one of the most diverse plant collections in the country.
There's a lot to see in one morning. You can start in the Fuqua Conservatory, where you'll find a lush tropical rainforest, a collection of orchids, and succulents from South Africa and Madagascar. From there, you can walk through the treetops on the Kendeda Canopy Walk and explore the Edible Garden. The garden's mission is to develop and maintain plant collections for display, education, research, conservation, and enjoyment, and the school programs are paired with curriculum guides.
If you want a bit more structure, printed maps and scavenger hunts are available. There are also grade-specific Garden Guides for Pre-K through high school, which include activities to do before and after your visit. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the grounds all morning to help out, and walk-ups are welcome, so you don't have to plan everything down to the minute.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Atlanta and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
