Centennial block party on Peachtree Street near the High Museum with live music, DJs, art-making, food vendors and special surprises.
The High Museum of Art is turning 100, and they're celebrating with a Centennial Block Party on Sunday, October 18, from 12 PM to 5 PM. The party takes over the museum's Peachtree Street frontage in Midtown, so the celebration happens right on the sidewalk rather than tucked inside the galleries. It's free to attend.
Throughout the afternoon, the block will be filled with live music and DJs, art-making stations, and food vendors, with special surprises added to the mix. It's a street party in the most literal sense, with the museum's front doors open to the neighborhood.
The centennial is more than just a birthday party, though. The High has spent its anniversary year expanding its collection, opening new Nigerian galleries and adding more than 200 new acquisitions. The block party is one of the ways they're marking the milestone, and it's a good chance to see the museum in its centennial year.

If you're planning to go, keep in mind that the High also offers free admission on the second Sunday of each month, so you can pair the party with a visit to the galleries. The block party runs from 12 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, October 18, and it's free.
