A traditional autumn festival featuring pumpkin carving, live music, craft activities, a fan vote, and a classic movie screening in the Rose Garden.
The Great Pumpkin-Carving Festival returns to the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Thursday, October 22, from 5 PM to 9 PM. It's one of the city's favorite fall traditions, and this year it's back at 1345 Piedmont Ave NE. The main draw is the carving: amateur carvers turn pumpkins into works of art, and visitors vote for a Fan Favourite. While you're there, you can also explore the Garden's award-winning Scarecrows in the Garden display, with more than 100 scarecrows to see after hours. The whole evening runs rain or shine.
There's plenty to do beyond the pumpkins. From 5 to 7 PM, there are free pumpkin crafts at Lanier Terrace, and the Rose Garden hosts a screening of a classic movie. The bars serve specialty cocktails like the Boo-Berry Margarita, Smashing Pumpkins, and Apple-y Ever After. If you're going with a group, keep in mind that cash bars close at 8:30 PM, and only guests 21 and older can buy alcohol, with a limit of two drinks per ID.
