Free admission for members, $27 for non-members, to the Atlanta History Center's 2026 exhibitions, including 'Our War Too: Women in Service' and the 'Battle of Atlanta' cyclorama.
Atlanta History Center has a full slate of exhibitions on view, including Our War Too, Locomotion, Native Lands, and the Cyclorama. If you've been a while, it's a good time to get back in—there's enough across these four to make a whole day of it.
Our War Too: Women in Service is the one that'll likely stick with you. It was put together by the National WWII Museum in New Orleans and pays tribute to the nearly 350,000 American women who served in the armed forces during the Second World War. It's built around artifacts, scrapbooks, film installations, and interactive biographies created with AI technology, so you're getting the personal side of the story alongside the bigger picture. The other three—Locomotion, Native Lands, and the Cyclorama—round out the current lineup, giving you a few different directions to take once you've finished with the WWII material.
It helps to remember what the Center actually is, because it's more than just one museum. Founded in 1926, it brings together the Atlanta History Museum, the 1845 Tullie Smith Farm, the 1928 Swan House mansion, research archives, special libraries, and 33 acres of gardens. Among its treasures is the 1885 Atlanta Cyclorama The Battle of Atlanta, which was moved to the site as part of a 2014 project, and the Margaret Mitchell House, where much of Gone with the Wind was written. This 2026 season was anchored by Centennial Conversations, marking the 100th anniversary of both the Atlanta History Center and the High Museum of Art.
