Solo performance by Yael Rasooly that blends puppetry, cabaret and autobiographical storytelling to explore resilience after violence.
Yael Rasooly brings her solo performance Edith and Me to the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta for three nights: Thursday, January 28; Friday, January 29; and Saturday, January 30, 2027. The show runs 60 minutes, with performances starting at 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM across those dates. It's recommended for ages 18 and over.
Edith and Me is a blend of puppetry, cabaret, and autobiographical storytelling. Rasooly plays a singer who's been mysteriously muted and immobilized, a silenced secret burning inside her. She's joined on stage by a feisty, determined puppet embodiment of Edith Piaf, and the two form a partnership of solidarity and tenderness. The puppet works as a device to externalize memory, control, and recovery, turning the piece into a story about the aftermath of violence and the struggle to reclaim a life through art. It's a deeply human look at resilience, and the Chicago International Puppet Festival called it "nothing short of a masterpiece," while Third Coast Review described it as "a story of surviving through art."
