Daily 30-minute program for all ages that guides visitors through the dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures in the museum's Great Hall.
Dino Talk is running as a daily program at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta, with sessions scheduled through the end of October. It's a half-hour talk that takes place in the museum's Great Hall on the first floor, and it's open to all ages, so it works just as well for a family outing as it does for anyone who's always been into prehistoric life.
The whole point of the program is to get you looking closer at the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures on display in the Great Hall. Instead of just walking past the skeletons, you'll spend thirty minutes uncovering the stories behind them, with the talk focusing on the animals right there in the room. It's a good way to get a bit more context than you'd find on the placards alone, and since it's for all ages, it doesn't matter if you're a lifelong enthusiast or just starting to get into it.
Fernbank itself is a nonprofit natural history museum, and there's plenty more to see beyond the Great Hall. The museum also houses a giant screen theater and an old-growth forest, so you can easily build a full day around the talk. Just a quick heads-up to keep things straight: Fernbank is not affiliated with the Fernbank Science Center, which runs as a division of DeKalb County Schools.
