Tina Turner tribute show in which Justine Riddoch and her cast recreate a live Tina Turner concert with a live band and dancers.
Totally Tina comes to The Tivoli Theatre on Thursday 29 October, a recreation of a live Tina Turner concert fronted by Justine Riddoch. Riddoch has been a National Tribute Awards winner since 2013, picking up trophies for Best Choreography, Best Female Artist, and Best Sound/Lighting and Production, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award. She's described as the UK's supreme Tina, and the show is built around her and her cast.
The set works through the Queen of Rock'n'Roll's songbook with a live band and dancing girls in sequins, feathers and diamonds. It leans on the golden anniversary of Proud Mary, the song that built Tina's reputation for fearsome live performances. From there it runs through the early hits, like River Deep - Mountain High and Nutbush City Limits, and into the stadium-era anthems: We Don't Need Another Hero, Simply the Best, What's Love Got to Do With It, I Don't Wanna Lose You and When the Heartache is Over.
It's a long run of songs that covers a lot of ground, from the early R&B and soul days to the global pop stardom of the eighties. The live band and the dancers keep it moving, and the setlist pulls from across the decades rather than sticking to one era. If you're familiar with her work, you'll recognise the big ones, but it's the full run from the early records to the stadium hits that gives the night its shape.
