A new musical based on Oscar Wilde's gothic tale, starring Kevin Kennedy as Mr Isaacs, recommended for ages 14 and over.
The Picture of Dorian Gray: A New Musical plays at The Tivoli Theatre in Aberdeen on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 February 2027, both nights starting at 7.30pm. It's a brand-new musical based on Oscar Wilde's gothic tale, and it's a short run — just the two nights — so you'll need to pick your evening early.
On stage, Kevin Kennedy takes the role of Mr Isaacs. The production describes itself as faithful to the original novel, and it's built around a powerful original score that brings Victorian London to life. If you've read Wilde's story, you know the territory: the portrait that ages while the man stays young, the slow slide into a very particular kind of ruin, and the heavy atmosphere of the era. The music is what carries it here, so it's as much a night for the songs as for the story.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book, though. The show uses haze, loud noises including gunshots, simulated smoking, flashing lights, and strobe effects. It also deals with adult themes, including murder, suicide and sex, and is recommended for ages 14 and over. If you're bringing anyone younger, it's worth knowing what you're signing up for.

Tickets are £42 to £32, and since it's only two dates, they'll likely go faster than a longer run would. Both performances are at 7.30pm at The Tivoli Theatre.
