The world's biggest a cappella singing competition, with more than 100 university performers, comes to the Tivoli Theatre.
The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella comes to The Tivoli Theatre on Saturday 13 February, bringing more than 100 university performers to the stage for a single night of live singing. It's billed as the world's biggest a cappella competition, and if that sounds familiar, it's because it served as the inspiration for the Pitch Perfect films.
The night is built around a series of university groups going head-to-head, with the focus on tight harmonies, vocals and choreography. A panel of qualified judges decides the winner on the night, and that group goes on to battle the world's top singers in New York City for the ultimate prize: being crowned World Champions of A Cappella. The tournament describes itself as a premiere competition dedicated to showcasing the art of student a cappella singing.
With over a hundred performers sharing the stage, it's a large-scale event rather than a small showcase. The whole thing runs for two and a half hours, so you'll see plenty of different groups before the night is through. It's a competition, so there's a clear winner to root for, and the stakes go all the way to New York.
