Annual night of traditional Scottish fiddle music from the North East, presented by the Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society.
The Fiddlers' Rally returns to The Tivoli Theatre on Saturday 21 November, another year of traditional Scottish music in the heart of the city. It's put on by the Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society, and as the name suggests, the fiddle is right at the centre of it. The whole thing is built around the fiddle traditions of the North East, so it's music that feels very much at home here.
It's not just a few solo players, either. The Society brings out its orchestras and musicians to fill the stage, and there's usually a special guest in the mix. The Rally has become a bit of a fixture for traditional music in Aberdeen, and it's a good place to hear the local style played out in full rather than just in a session.
One thing that puts it in context is where it happens. The Tivoli is Aberdeen's professional stage, and that's where the Society brings this particular tradition. It's a night that celebrates the North East's fiddle playing in a proper theatre setting, with the Society's own musicians leading the way.
