Film music concert by The Orchestra and Choir of the Shire with the voice of Sir Christopher Lee, covering The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Rings of Power.
The Orchestra and Choir of the Shire bring the music of Middle-earth to The Tivoli Theatre on Wednesday 18 November, with a programme that pulls from The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Rings of Power. It's a film music concert that runs through the different worlds J.R.R. Tolkien built, from the menacing sounds of Mordor and the Black Riders to the lyrical melodies of the Elves.
There are a few things that set this one apart from your usual film score night. The Orchestra and Choir of the Shire are joined by star soloists and the voice of Sir Christopher Lee, and the organisers bill it as the only film music concert series in the world to feature a star guest from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. That guest presents the best of the music and is available for a free photo with ticket-buyers.
It's a fairly wide sweep of the music, so you'll hear the darker, heavier side of the score alongside the lighter, more melodic themes. If you've spent any time with the films, you'll recognise the shift from the dread of the Ringwraiths to the more ethereal sounds of the Elven realms. The whole thing is performed live by the orchestra and choir, with the guest providing the thread that ties the different pieces together.
