Amateur production of the junior version of the musical SIX, in which the six wives of Henry VIII sing their stories of heartbreak and girl power.
SIX (Teen Edition) runs at Encore Aberdeen from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November, with matinees at 2.30pm and evening shows at 7.30pm. It's an amateur production of the junior version of the show by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, with original music by George Stiles.
The premise is one you'll likely recognise: the six wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a celebration of 21st-century girl power. Each queen gets her turn to share her own struggles, strength and survival, and the show closes on a message of empowerment and self-identity. The original production first played the West End and Broadway, staged by Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, George Stiles and Kevin McCollum in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
This particular run is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. It's being put on at Encore Aberdeen, a new theatre in the heart of the city owned by Academy of Expressive Arts (AEA Productions). It serves as the home stage for AEA students, with a programme of theatre, music, comedy and creative events. You'll find it at 3 Skene Terrace, Aberdeen, AB10 1RN.
