Simon Fowler, frontman of Ocean Colour Scene, performs his classic hits and tells the stories behind them in a spoken-word music evening.
Simon Fowler is playing The Tivoli Theatre on Sunday 19 March 2028, starting at 7:30pm. He's the singer-songwriter and frontman of Ocean Colour Scene, the Britpop band that took him from Birmingham to the height of 1990s fame and landed them on the same Knebworth bill as Oasis. He wrote many of the era's signature songs, including The Riverboat Song, The Circle, The Day We Caught The Train, Moseley Shoals and Marchin' Already, and fronted the triple-platinum album Moseley Shoals.
This isn't a standard gig. It's set up as a spoken-word music evening, and Fowler describes it as a way of reliving his best work through the songs themselves and the stories behind them. He'll be tracing the origins of that writing back to his pre-OCS days, so you'll hear new songs alongside the classic hits, with tales from one of Britpop's central characters woven in between.
