Si Cranstoun

Si Cranstoun plays the Beach Ballroom on Saturday 31 October, a night that sits squarely in the blues and swing of the 1940s and 50s. He describes himself as a throwback to the old swing blues shouters of that era, and the set follows that lead.

Cranstoun's career started in the late 1990s as a classic soul club singer on the London circuit, with residencies at the Hammersmith Palais and the Clapham Grand. In the early 2000s he formed a busking vocal duo with his brother, The Dualers, whose 2004 single 'Kiss On The Lips' reached number 21 in the UK charts. He returned to a solo career in 2012 and became a prolific bandleader and songwriter on the vintage scene, with dance-floor hits 'Dynamo' and 'Coupe De Ville'.

Signed to Warner Records in 2013, he was championed by DJs Chris Evans and the late Terry Wogan, and landed A-listed Radio 2 and Magic hits 'Dance Forever More' and 'Caught In the Moonlight'. In 2015 he released A Christmas Twist, which went viral with over 12 million views; in 2017 he signed to the German label Ruf Records and released Old School; and in 2020 he recorded the acoustic album Poems Unlocked.

The gig is at the Beach Ballroom on Beach Promenade in Aberdeen, starting at 7:30 PM. Tickets are £33.
