Britpop band Shed Seven play the Music Hall on Union Street on their Shedcember X Tour, with the Aberdeen date sold out.
Shed Seven play the Music Hall on Thursday 19 November, part of their Shedcember X Tour. If you've got them on your radar, you'll know the name from the Britpop years. They're a York band, formed in 1990, and they spent the nineties putting out a string of singles that hit the Top 20 β seven of them, to be precise. 'Going For Gold' and 'Chasing Rainbows' are the ones most people recognise, but there's 'Disco Down', 'Getting Better' and 'On Standby' in there too, along with four Top 10 albums.
Their popularity peaked in the mid-nineties, right in the middle of the Britpop boom. They stayed active through that period and eventually called it a day in December 2003, after a farewell tour that ended with a final show in their hometown of York. They didn't stay away for long, though; the band reformed in 2007 and have been playing since. The comeback gathered more steam with the 2017 album Instant Pleasures, which debuted at number eight β their highest-charting record in eighteen years.
