Senior pupils of Robert Gordon's College play instrumental, chamber and vocal ensembles with contemporary, classical and Christmas pieces.
Robert Gordon's College are bringing a music celebration to Cowdray Hall on Thursday 10 December, with the senior pupils taking the stage. It's a lunchtime concert, running from 12:45 to 1:30, so it fits right into a break if you're working or wandering through the city that day.
The programme is built around the school's senior pupils, and it pulls together a fair few different setups. You'll hear instrumental, chamber and vocal ensembles, so it's not just one group playing through a set. The music itself moves between contemporary and classical works, with a selection of Christmas pieces woven in to welcome the season. It's a mix of styles rather than a single theme, and the festive side of things sits alongside the rest rather than taking over.
Because it's a celebration of the school's music, the focus is on the pupils themselves. The variety of ensembles means you'll hear a range of sounds across the half hour—instrumental pieces, smaller chamber groups and vocal performances—all coming from the same cohort of senior students. It's a good way to see what they've been working on across different styles in one go.
