Quatuor Bozzini play brand-new short works by four emerging Scottish composers created during the Composers' Lab workshop, part of Sound Festival 2026.
Quatuor Bozzini are playing at Seabury House on Thursday 29 October, and it's a bit of a special one. The set is all brand-new music, written by four emerging Scottish composers who've spent the preceding days working with the quartet. It's the result of the Composers' Lab, a three-day intensive workshop run by Sound Scotland, and this is the first time these pieces are being heard in public.
The quartet consists of Clemens Merkel, Alissa Cheung, Stéphanie Bozzini and Isabelle Bozzini. The four composers who took part in the lab are Darlene Zarabozo, Kristian Rasmussen, Aidan Lochrin and Lucy Callen, and each will have their own short work performed. It's a good way to hear four different voices on the same stage in one go, and since they're all new, you're catching them right at the start.
The whole thing sits inside soundfestival 2026, a festival of contemporary music and sound art running across Aberdeen and the North East from 22 to 31 October. This particular session is supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, which fits with the quartet's own roots. If you're around the city during the festival, there's plenty more happening around us besides this one.
