Harry Cambridge brings Luther UK: The Ultimate Luther Vandross Experience to The Tivoli Theatre on Friday 23 October, a full-scale stage show built around his take on Luther Vandross's music. It's a new production, not a small tribute act, and it's built around Cambridge's vocals, the hits, and the soulful side of Vandross's catalogue.
Cambridge isn't new to the stage. He's performed in London's West End with the National Theatre, and he first appeared as Luther Vandross on ITV's Stars In Their Eyes — a turn that brought him back for two special shows. That's the same voice he'll be using here, and it's the focal point of the whole thing.
It's a full production, not just a singer and a backing track. He's backed by a seven-piece live band, and the show includes lighting effects to match. The set is built around the music, so the band does the heavy lifting while Cambridge handles the vocals.
