Live audiovisual composition by Les Harmoniques du Néon staged in a shop window, turning everyday street life into a performance of music, sound, voice and movement.
Les Harmoniques du Néon bring VITRINE to the Bon Accord Shopping Centre on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, as part of the Sound Festival. It's a live audiovisual composition that turns the everyday street life of Aberdeen into a performance, and the whole thing is staged inside a shop window facing the street.
If you've ever spent a few minutes just watching the world go by from a window, you've got the basic idea. The window acts like a cinema screen: you watch the cars passing, pedestrians crossing, and pigeons moving outside, while a musician and a performer respond to what's unfolding in real time. They blend music, sound, voices, gestures and movement, so the piece changes depending on what happens on the street. It's playful, surprising and poetic, and it gradually amplifies the familiar rhythms of daily life, drawing out unexpected connections between what you see and what you hear.
Behind it are Anne-Laure Pigache and Anne-Julie Rollet. The piece won the 2020 SACD / Auteurs d'espaces Grant and was produced with financial support from DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Department of Isère, the City of Grenoble, ADAMI and La Maison de la Musique Contemporaine.
