Late Night soundsession of six world premiere electroacoustic pieces by six composers, paired with photography and followed by a conversation, performed by the University of Aberdeen Concert Band Breakout Group.
Architectural Arpeggios comes to King's Pavilion on Saturday 24 October, as part of the soundfestival 2026 programme. It's a late-night soundsession curated by Hadrian Gray, with the University Concert Band Breakout Group performing. The whole thing is a collaboration between the University of Aberdeen Concert Band and the University of Aberdeen Photography Society, and it sits within the venue's sound_creators and sound_curators programmes.
The evening is built around the connection between music and photography, pairing new electroacoustic music with photographic works. The concert opens with six world premieres by composers Kristain Rasmussen, Pixie Nishina, Hadrian Gray, Alexander Stafford, Rory Anderson and Rhianna Henderson, all performed by the University Concert Band Breakout Group. That hour of new music is followed by a conversation, so you get the performance and then a chance to hear more about it afterwards.
It's one of several Late Night soundsessions during soundfestival 2026, a festival of new music and sound art running across Aberdeen and the North East from 22 to 31 October. The festival operates a Pay What You Can option, so no one is excluded for financial reasons.
