Volunteer-led 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour of the Edwardian His Majesty's Theatre, with a look at the auditorium from a performer's point of view.
His Majesty's Theatre is opening its doors for public tours starting Saturday 31 October, and they're running right through to Sunday 3 January. If you've spent years watching shows from the stalls or the circle, this is your chance to see what's actually happening behind the scenes.
It's a 90-minute walk led by the theatre's own volunteers, and it takes you through both the new and old sections of the building. The theatre itself is an Edwardian venue in the city centre that's been standing for more than a century, designed by the legendary theatre architect Frank Matcham. You'll get to see the parts of the place that usually stay hidden from the audience, and the best bit is that you actually get to go onstage and look out over the auditorium from a performer's point of view.
It's a good way to get a proper sense of how the building works, from the front-of-house areas to the backstage spaces that keep everything moving. The tours run from 31 October through to 3 January, with the 10:00 am slot being the one to keep in mind. Tickets are £12.50.

They ask that you arrive at the His Majesty's Theatre foyer 15 minutes before the tour starts, so don't cut it too fine. If you have any access enquiries, you can email hello@aberdeenperformingarts.com.
