Film tour of fly fishing stories, with 'The Light Beside Me', 'Black Sheep' and 'Yukon Resurrection' at The Tivoli Theatre.
The Fly Fishing Film Tour comes to The Tivoli Theatre on Wednesday 11 November, with the night starting at 7:30pm. It's a touring programme that brings together stories of adventure, resilience and a connection to water, and the three films on the bill each take a different approach to that.
The Light Beside Me is the most personal of the lot. It follows Danny Parra's journey from a difficult childhood on Magdalena Bay to finding strength and purpose through fishing. Black Sheep takes things into the jungle, following Jako Lucas and the Flow State Productions crew as they go after the Pacu, a fish that often gets overlooked. Then there's Yukon Resurrection, a multi-generational story about the LaFave family and their century-old fishing lodge legacy, rooted in perseverance after war.
Between them, they cover a fair bit of ground: a childhood on a bay, a jungle expedition, and a family lodge in the Yukon. The common thread is the water, and the way it pulls people back to it, whether it's for sport, for family or for something more personal. If you're into fishing, it's a good look at how it works in very different parts of the world; if you're not, there's enough of a human story in each to stand on its own.
