Intimate acoustic night of original folk songs by Aberdeen songwriter Stephen Molloy and Canadian singer-songwriter John NA Brown.
John NA Brown and Stephen Molloy play the Fittie Community Hall on Saturday 24 October, part of the Fittie Sessions. It's an evening of original acoustic folk music in the heart of Fittie village, with both songwriters performing their own material.
The night sits under the Fittie Sessions banner, an acoustic series staged in the village. The organisers describe it as a warm, intimate room with no big stage and no barriers between performer and audience, meant to feel like being invited into someone's living room. It's that lack of distance that sets it apart from a standard gig: you're close to the music and the people making it, rather than watching from the back of a dark hall.
Stephen Molloy is an Aberdeen songwriter who's spent the last two years writing and performing across the city's open mic and folk scene. Rooted in North-East Scotland, his songs are built around storytelling and reflection. John NA Brown comes from a different background: a Canadian songwriter whose earliest years were spent in the Canadian Boreal Forest. He plays a reflective set of original songs in several languages, drawing on international folk, jazz and blues. Between them, you've got two songwriters from opposite sides of the Atlantic sharing one bill.
