York Proms 2026, a series of classical concerts in the Museum Gardens, featuring West End star Ashley Stilborn and soprano Jennifer Coleman.
York Proms returns to the Museum Gardens on Sunday 26 July, bringing classical music back to one of the city's most iconic open-air settings. It's a picnic concert in the historic gardens, the kind of summer outing that's become a bit of a local tradition, and you're encouraged to bring your own picnics, blankets and chairs to settle in for the evening. There's the possibility of a local talent warm-up stage before the main event, and a fireworks finale to close the night.
On the bill are two names you'll recognise. Ashley Stilborn is a York-born West End star who graduated from the Guildford School of Acting in 2014 and has appeared in Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. Joining him is soprano Jennifer Coleman, who has been singing full-time with the Royal Opera at Covent Garden since 2025. The programme leans into big film pieces, with Star Wars among them, supported by a larger instrumental line-up than usual.

It's a family affair, with tickets for adults at €50.95 and children aged 5 to 15 at €11.95, while under-fives go free. Disabled tickets are €50.95, and a carer comes in at the same price. If you don't fancy sorting your own spread, there's a single person picnic hamper for €29.95. The whole thing is in the city centre, so you can walk in and out without worrying about parking.
