A themed afternoon tea experience at The Grand hotel in York, blending traditional afternoon tea with magical touches inspired by the city's history.
The Grand is running its Wizarding Afternoon Tea throughout the summer, so it's available on Monday 13 July and plenty of dates around it. It's served in The Rise, the hotel's restaurant, which looks out over York's city walls and picked up 'Best Afternoon Tea 2026' from the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence.
The tea comes on an elegant stand as a tower of savoury and sweet treats. The whole thing is a nod to the city's history and the building's own stories, with the traditional afternoon tea format mixed with playful, magical touches. The Grand itself was once a hub for railway travellers, and the hotel describes the experience as a revival of a long-forgotten tradition of Wizarding Afternoon Tea, with the building feeling more alive with enchantment than ever before.

It's a proper sit-down affair in a room with a view, so it works as well for a slow afternoon as it does for something a bit more celebratory. The hotel is known for its majestic architecture and its 'nothing-is-too-much-trouble' service, and that comes through here too. The tea starts from £39.50, and since it runs all summer, you've got plenty of room to pick a date that suits.
