Tim Garland & Geoffrey Keezer

Tim Garland and Geoffrey Keezer play the National Centre for Early Music on Monday 12 October, with the set running from 7.20pm to around 9.30pm. Both are Grammy winners, and they've been playing together for twenty-five years—a partnership that's caught the attention of jazz figures like Gary Burton and Joe Lovano. The night is part of the NCEM's jazz series, which pairs the artists with students who work with them earlier in the day and share their work on stage before the main set.

The concert is built around their new duet album, Mezzo, which they recorded in New York in a single five-hour session. It's Garland's first major project centred on the mezzo-soprano saxophone, a rare instrument that features on seven of the album's nine tracks. The repertoire takes in four new Garland compositions, pieces by Keezer, Chick Corea, Mulgrew Miller and Satie, and an interpretation of Cole Porter's 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'.
