Thor's Pub Quiz

Thor's Pub Quiz is back at The Milner Hotel on Sunday 26 July, from 5:30pm to 8pm. It's a free entry pub quiz held in the hotel gardens, and it's one of four dates running across the summer: the others fell on Sunday 14 June and Sunday 28 June, with one more to follow on Sunday 2 August. If you missed the earlier ones, this is your chance to get in on it.

It's a mobile phone speed quiz, so you'll be answering on your phone rather than scribbling on a sheet of paper. There are prizes up for grabs, including bottles of Prosecco and bar tabs, so it's a bit more than just bragging rights on the line. The whole thing runs from 5:30pm to 8pm, which is a decent slot for a Sunday afternoon — late enough to get the group together, but finished early enough that you're not starting your Monday morning in a fog.

The quiz is part of a bigger summer season at The Milner Hotel, where the beer garden is back for 2026. They're calling it York's biggest, and it's built around tipi tents and Saturday disco sessions. There's plenty more going on around the quiz, too: Garden Pilates, Giant Picnics, Taco Thursdays, and themed nights every Friday. Jimmy Macks Street Kitchen is back on site, serving low, slow, and smoked BBQ, so you can get some proper food in between rounds. The venue is dog- and child-friendly, cashless, and has wheelchair access, which makes it easy to bring along whoever you want. The quiz itself is free to enter, and it runs from 5:30pm to 8pm on Sunday 26 July at the hotel gardens on Station Road.
